Major Swift in CPR Guidelines 2010

Fact

1) Bystanders are reluctant to perform mouth to mouth breathing

2) Chest compression only is beneficial than did not starting the CPR at all.

3) Traditional CPR involves in DR ABC (danger, response, AIRWAY, BREATHING and CIRCULATION)

Current changes

1) Under the revised guidelines, rescuers using traditional CPR, or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, should start chest compressions immediately — 30 chest presses, then two breaths. The change applies to adults and children, but not newborns.

Additional info

1)Everyone should be doing hands-only CPR for sudden cardiac arrest, and skipping mouth-to-mouth.[Expert opinion]

2) There is a need to consider AIRWAY and BREATHING first in cases of near-drownings and drug overdoses as the breathing problem may led to cardiac arrest. [expert opinion]
