Stridor in 34 Years Old Gentleman, 5 hours post total thyroidectomy

You are being called by a nurse at surgical wards to review a 34 years old gentleman; 5 hours post operative for total thyroidectomy who develops stridor and shortness of breath. On examination, he is conscious and alert but in respiratory distress, stridor, pain and tachycardic. The surgical site appears to be swollen and ecchymosed.
